But, I've started a new journal and I'm really having lots of fun working in it and I'm hoping that excitement helps motivate me to start posting here again.
I'm working in a journal that I made almost a year ago. It is made from 140 pound, cold-press watercolor paper. It is the only journal that I have ever made and I can't say how neat it was to make. I'm not sure why I haven't made any more! There really isn't anything more satisfying that working in my journal that I made. I even got brave while creating it and added some smaller sheets, like Donna Downey's journals. I love those inclusions in her's and was inspired to try it in my own journal. This journal also has fold-out pages, so there's lots of space for art!
I recently discovered Kelly Kilmer and signed up for one of her on-going classes called, "Revel in the Moment". Wow, I LOVE her style and it was exactly what I was needing! I have been enjoying doing collage pages for awhile and for me and where I am in my life, it's my saving grace. I have two little children (2 yrs and 5 yrs). I discovered art journaling with my little one was just a few months old and my art time was always late at night when he was sleeping beside me. It was always a rush for me to do a page because for some reason I felt like I HAD to get that journal page finish that I had started. I guess I was worried I'd never finish it or lose that muse that was helping create that page at that time. So, for these past 2 years, my free time has gotten smaller and therefore my art time has, too. So, only rushed pages I've been able to crank out. I am still enjoying the process, but I do not like my need to finish what I started then and there. Anyway....for some reason, working in this journal has been totally different. I don't feel the need to finish a page and as I've been working it it, I've found myself working between 2 or 3 pages at the same time. I do a bit on one page and then flip to work on another. Go back and look at the previous page and might see some new idea pop in my head to use on that page. So back and forth I go. Right now I have a page with images glued down but that's it and it's been like that for days. I would NEVER have done that with my usual art journal process.
an unfinished page that's still waiting for me....
I've been trying to video when I work in this journal and so far I have one video posted on my YouTube page. I am currently editing a second video right now and will be sharing it soon. You can find my first collage journal video here.
Here are some photos of the pages that I have completed in my collage journal, so far.....if you click on an image you should be taken to a larger version (hopefully. lol)
I accidentally got paint on this picture of me and I've been trying to alter the image to help cover up that big splotch of black on my chin ;-)
Thanks so much for visiting my blog and I hope that you visit again soon. I have lots to share and need to start doing it!
Take care,
di
