#lovesummer art - A Mixed Media Canvas

Hi everyone!

Well, I couldn't resist doing another project for the YouTube artist collaboration called #lovesummerart !  I found a 6"x6" canvas board and decided that it would something fun to create for a change.  I've been working 3"x5" index cards since June 1st, so it was nice to be working on such a solid surface instead of a flimsy card. lol

When I first started this, I had an ocean sunset idea in my head and that I needed to use some products that I hadn't used in awhile.  So I grabbed some of my Golden Fluid Acrylics as well as a few other things.  It wasn't long until my ocean scene turned into grasslands, thanks to my blue and yellow paints mixing together and that was just fine because when I started, I decided that I was just going to play with different mediums and see what happened.  I work best when I go into a project with that frame of mind, because I don't have a set idea in my head and just keep my head open to prompts from my muse.

I really like how this turned out and the only thing that really bothers me about it is that I think the horizon line should be a bit lower.  It's too close to being in the middle and I prefer it to be either visibly  higher or lower than the middle of the canvas.  But, that's okay, it's a fun, little piece of art that's now sitting on my mantle and a great reminder of the plains of my home state.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope that you enjoyed my two creations for the #lovesummerart collaboration!  Now, back to working on my ICAD's! July is almost over and I'm determined to have a card for each day!

Take care,
Dianne

#lovesummerart -Eternal Summer - a collage journal pageo

Hi everyone!

What an amazing weekend this has turned out to be!  Head over to YouTube and put in the hashtag- #lovesummerart -and you will discover loads of videos from artists all over the world who are shaving their love of ART and SUMMER with everyone.  It's quite an amazing collaboration of people who have come together and all because of ART.  This makes my soul so happy!  Working in my art journals has completely changed my life.  It's a safe place for me to create and lots of times to work through difficult and troublesome feelings that I am experiencing at the time.  I'm not good at putting things down in words, but wow does it ever help me to put down lots of layers of paint and other mediums, or cut images and words from magazines and glue them together in collages.  So, being a part of this movement has been such a wonderful experience and I sure hope that you spend some time watching as many of the #lovesummerart videos that you can.  You won't be sorry and you might also find some artist on YouTube that you had not discovered before.  That's what I'm excited about....finding new channels to watch!

I must admit that my muse seemed to have taken a hike when it came to working on this project.  I have been so focused on my ICAD cards and it was hard at first for me to switch gears for some reason.  But, late last night I was flipping through a magazine and found the perfect image.  Then I searched on "summer quotes" and found a great quote.  This morning, my art buddy joined me, and I'm so happy with how it all came together.

There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart.

ICAD Day 35 to 38

Hi everyone!

Well I think that I have gotten myself all caught up with my ICAD's!  I know that it's not required to have a card for each day and that there is no being behind or catching up....but when ICAD started up this year I really wanted to have a card for each day.  I have come close in the past, but just haven't done it yet.  This will be my year! lol

So, here are the rest of the cards finishing off  with todays card, which is Day 38.

Day 35

Day 36

Day 37

Day 38

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope that you are having as much fun creating your ICAD cards as I am! :-)

Mega ICAD Update!

Hi everyone!

Oh goodness I have been terrible with updating my blog.  And here I am sitting here at 3:00 a.m., typing this up without my glasses on, so please look over all my mistakes. lol

Summer vacation has been as eventful as ever around here and life with 5 kids, ages 4 to 24, has been full of every thing you could ever think of. lol  And what makes it the craziest is having such a wide range in children it's so hard sometimes for me to switch gears between them all.

So, there will be an image heavy posts until I get caught up with sharing what I've been creating during ICAD 2015.  To learn all about ICAD, please visit Tammy's site at daisyyellowart.com . And be sure to follow her blog so that you don't miss out on any of the amazing art that she shares! :-)

Okay, let's do this....there are process videos for almost all of these cards on my YouTube page, so be sure to check things out over there so you can see how these were created.

All rightie! I think...um hope...that I shared all of the cards that I've created so far.  I absolutely LOVE creating these little pieces of art!  Since life is so crazy right now,  working on these cards are my saving grace every day.  And, they are a fun place to just PLAY!  I love to experiment on them.  I love to recycle crazy bits of basically things that should have been tossed into the trash can onto them.  Gluing down bits to create texture is probably one of my favorite things and I hope that sharing what I love and videos of me playing to see what happens, inspires you to do the same.  I have learned to much as I create these cards each year and my style has grown so much into something that's finally and truly me.  How awesome is that for slapping paint around on a cheap, 3x5 index card?  Who would have thought? lol  So I totally encourage you to try this, any time. Not just during June and July when ICAD is in full swing.

Thanks so much for stopping by and especially for all of your kind words of support and comments about my creations.  I have really been trying to cut down my screen time, so I've gotten so behind with responding to your kind comments on my videos.  I appreciate it more than you will ever know and each day I'm just totally humbled at the thought of how many people follow me on YouTube.  I never, ever, ever thought that people would enjoy what I create.  Especially since my self-confidence has always been so low, most of all whenever it comes to my art.

Take care and thanks so much again!
